WATER MAIN HYDROSTATIC TESTING
Hydrostatic Testing involves filling the new water main with potable water from the lowest point, whilst purging air from the pipeline from the highest point and totally filling with water. Once filled, our industrial grade high pressure pumps are connected to the system and additional water is injected to raise the internal water pressure to the required system test pressure. This pressure is then held, make-up water recorded and the pipeline inspected as per the specification of the project. At the conclusion of the test an onsite report is completed, uploaded to the cloud for approval, then emailed to the client detailing the results or any defects to be rectified.
As part of our dedicated NATA Accredited Pipeline Testing Service, we offer a complete hydrostatic testing service by our fully trained personnel. We are able to certify testing of any specification from the above national standards, through to local council and project specifications for those particularly unique jobs. With the experience of our onsite and office staff we are able to advise our clients about each stage of the testing procedures and specifications to achieve the best results.
Water Main Disinfection & Sampling
Following a satisfactory hydrostatic test we disinfect new drinking and non-drinking water mains. As we inject Sodium Hypochlorite into water drawn from the existing mains and flush through the new mains, any pathogens such as bacteria, viruses or protozoans are killed. After the disinfectant dosage is applied and held for the required time, the pump is reconnected and then injects Sodium Thiosulphate to the released super chlorinated water to neutralise the additive.
Once the main has been chemically ‘cleaned’ we can commence flushing the new main with fresh water to remove any remnants of the disinfectant. Now the main has been prepared, water samples are collected onsite then deposited at one of our NATA Accredited laboratory partners and the analysis of the water is then supplied to the client on their return.
This entire process is completed in accordance with WSA 03-2011 Appendix I and our NATA Accredited water sampling procedures. All work is performed by our highly trained sampling personnel, complemented by our panel of NATA Accredited laboratory partners.
Sewer Main & Manhole Vacuum Testing
Pressure testing, either low pressure air testing or vacuum testing, is only qualitative as pressure losses do not directly reflect water leakage rates. It is used to identify points of leakage and potential infiltration and exfiltration due to damaged pipe seals and joints.
Testing is completed by isolating the test section of pipeline or structure using our own in-house inflatable plugs. Positive or negative air pressure is applied to the test section using our specialised industrial vacuum pump or air compressors as required. The system test pressure and pressure change is then monitored as per the specification of the project. The required testing will vary depending on the type of project and region, but will ultimately be based on WSA 02-2002 (Gravity Sewer), WSA 04-2005 (Pumping Stations), WSA 06-2008 (Vacuum Sewer), SEQ D&C Code, AS2566.2:2002 Clause 6.4 or AS3500. As we test a large variety of pipelines, in many different regions and states, we can confidently guide and assist you with selection of the correct specification for your project.
To make this process as stress free as possible; we complete our testing whilst being self sufficient. All our testing personnel are confined space ticketed, plus we supply all testing and confined space entry equipment and related permits.
Ensuring we are your NATA Accredited Pipeline Testing Service you can rely on, we use our own range of sewer test plugs ranging from 35mm to 1500mm in diameter. Our own regularly NATA calibrated gauges also ensure a reliable and consistent result for your project.
Sewer Main Deflection (Ovality) Testing
Deflection testing is a valuable method of confirming the success of embedment placement and compaction for non-pressure flexible pipelines. The process involves pulling a verified proving tool through each section of sewer pipeline to determine if the pipe has been squashed, deformed or otherwise blocked by a pinched rubber or drainage gravel during installation.
Testing and reporting is performed by confined space ticketed and NATA Accredited trained personnel in accordance with WSA 02-2002, AS2566.2:2002 Clause 6.5, SEQ D&C Code, local council or project specification.
Being a NATA Accredited Pipeline Testing Service we stock all of our own proving tools that are specifically made for this application and calibrated every 12 months to comply with the above mentioned codes.
HDPE Liner Supply & Welding
We supply, prepare and extrusion weld all HDPE sewer structure liners as required by your project’s specification. With the combination of our HDPE liner experience, welding qualifications and confined space equipment, you can be confident to subcontract part or all of this work to TestX.
We have Australian accredited extrusion welders, with auxiliary tickets for butt welding, electrofusion welding and chain saw operation. Our crews are self sufficient, supply all of their welding equipment, site power and specialise in the welding of PE pipe and HDPE sewer structure liners. We also have a sound knowledge of the civil and waste water industries and can advise on all aspects of poly construction.
